Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Overview
Atomic is a tool that analyzes web content for AI citation readiness. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights.
What We Collect
Personal Information
When you submit a URL for analysis, we collect your name and email address. This information is used solely to send you a one-time link to your analysis results. Your name and email are stored in our database and automatically deleted after 30 days.
URLs and Analysis Results
The URL you submit and the full analysis results (scores, sentence breakdowns, recommendations) are stored in our database so you can access them via your unique analysis link. This data is retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted.
API Keys
If you choose to use the AI rewriting feature, you may provide API keys for third-party AI services (Anthropic/Claude, OpenAI, or Google Gemini). These keys are:
- Stored only in your browser's local storage — never on our server
- Sent directly from your browser to our server only when you request a rewrite, then forwarded to the AI provider for that single request
- Never logged, saved, or retained on our server
- Deletable at any time by clearing them in the “Add AI Key” dialog or clearing your browser's local storage
Theme Preference
Your light/dark theme preference is stored in your browser's local storage.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use Atomic (page views, session duration, general geographic region, device type). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects anonymized usage data. This data helps us improve the tool but does not identify you personally.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by using a browser extension such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser settings.
For details on how Google handles analytics data, see the Google Privacy Policy.
What We Do Not Collect
- No advertising or data sharing with third parties for marketing purposes
- No fingerprinting or cross-site tracking
- No long-term retention of personal data — all records are automatically deleted after 30 days
Third-Party AI Services
When you use the AI rewriting feature, your data (low-scoring sentences and surrounding context from the analyzed page) is sent to the AI provider you select. We cannot control, monitor, or be responsible for how third-party AI providers handle your data once it leaves our server.
Each provider has their own privacy policy and data handling practices:
By providing your API key and using the rewriting feature, you acknowledge that your content will be processed by the selected AI provider under their terms. You are solely responsible for understanding and accepting the privacy policies of any third-party AI service you choose to use through this tool.
Atomic and its creators (Chris Labatt-Simon and Fair Winds Strategies) are not responsible for the privacy practices, data retention, or data handling of any third-party AI provider. Once your content is sent to an external AI service, it is subject to that provider's terms of service and privacy policy. We have no control over whether the provider stores, trains on, or otherwise processes the data you send.
Web Scraping
When you analyze a URL, our server uses a headless browser to fetch and render the page, similar to how a search engine crawler would. We only access publicly available content. No authentication credentials are provided or bypassed.
Cookies
Atomic itself does not set any first-party cookies. Google Analytics sets third-party cookies to track anonymous usage statistics. You can block these cookies via your browser settings or the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.
Data Security
All connections to Atomic are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Personal data (name, email) and analysis results are stored in a PostgreSQL database accessible only via localhost connections. All data is automatically deleted after 30 days. API keys exist only transiently in server memory during a rewrite request and are discarded afterward.
Children's Privacy
This service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
